One of our favourite (new) traditions at The Root Cellar is our Farm to Fork Community Dinner Series. The idea is simple: we want to bring our community and workers together with local organic farmers and producers to build solidarity within our food system. What better way to do this than by sharing a 3-course meal prepared by Chef Dani and our awesome kitchen staff, and featuring produce and ingredients from the featured farmers? Partway through the meal we'll hear from the farmers about how they got started, their trials and triumphs, and how they see the future of small-scale sustainable agriculture--questions are encouraged!
We're pleased to announce that the September Farm to Fork Community Dinner has been confirmed for Wednesday, September 24th. We'll be featuring the Springett family--treatment-free beekeepers from Mt. Brydges (check out Springett's Honey). Chef Dani is working on a honey-inspired menu, and we can expect lots of stories about small-scale sustainable beekeeping, the challenges of protecting pollinators, and why the Springetts grow so much hyssop!
